Legal 500 2019 greatly increases recommendations for SA Law experts

With all leading practice areas recommended, 12 lawyers recognised, 2 ‘Leading Individuals’, 3 ‘Rising Stars Lawyers’, 2 ‘Next Generation Partners’ and 1 'Next Generation Lawyer' SA Law are delighted to announce our Legal 500 rankings for 2020.


So begins the annual legal directory results season, and we’re pleased to report that SA Law is off to a flying start.

The September results from The Legal 500 have SA Law holding its rankings in all categories, but with an increase in the number of lawyers singled out for the high quality of their work.

Robert Ryall, SA Law's Joint Head of the Commercial Litigation & Dispute Resolution team, joins Head of Family Law Marilyn Bell as a ‘leading individual’, while dispute resolution specialists Clare Mackay and Simon Walsh have been highlighted as ‘rising stars’.

Family law specialist Kiran Beeharry continues to be seen as a ‘next generation lawyer’, while Ruth Abrams from the Family Law team, and real estate specialist Gary Dunger have been highlighted as ‘next generation partners’.

Here’s what The Legal 500 had to say about us.

Commercial Litigation (Tier 1):

SA Law LLP is well known for its commercial litigation work with football clubs. The team also has in-depth expertise in other disputes, which often have a multi-jurisdictional scope and include defamation, professional negligence, asset tracing, professional discipline, IP and real estate disputes. The practice is jointly headed by Robert Ryall and Tracy Lacey-Smith. Simon Walsh and Clare Mackay are also recommended.

Family Law (Tier 1):

SA Law LLP’s family practice is well versed in complex financial matters, including cases which involve international elements, trusts, complex company structures, holding companies in England and abroad, vast wealth and farms. The team is also experienced in highly demanding and sensitive children-related matters. Advice on the common fields that impact on high-value family cases, including corporate law, real estate, bankruptcy and immigration, is provided from within the firm. Marilyn Bell heads the practice. Ruth Abrams and associate Kiran Beeharry are also recommended.

Commercial Property (Tier 2):

The real estate practice of SA Law LLP in St Albans is jointly headed by Steve Kenneford and Gary Dunger. Key areas of expertise include real estate finance, residential and commercial developments, insolvency-related work as well as the handling of specific issues relating to listed buildings and agricultural land. While handling a significant amount of matters with a national scope, the practice has strong links within the region, assisting local clients with high-profile projects, particularly in property development and secured lending. Gary Dunger is recommended.

Employment (Tier 2):

SA Law LLP's employment team acts for both companies and individuals in relation to contract terms as well as contentious claims. The practice specialises in assisting clients from the employment agency, education, charity, non-profit and care sectors and GDPR advice is an area of growth. The practice head is Chris Cook
