Updated Employment Tribunals Annual Statistics 2025/26 | Tuesday 23 June 2026 | 1 min read

On 11 June 2026, the Ministry of Justice published annual tribunals statistics for 2025/26.

They are as follows:

  • Compared to 2024/25, new single claims in the employment tribunals increased by 39% in 2025/26.
  • Disposals decreased by 12%, with the single claim open caseload increasing by 55%.
  • New multiple claims decreased by 40%, and disposals also decreased by 39%, with the tribunals’ multiple claims open caseload increasing by 5% in 2025/26 compared to 2024/25.
  • Case lengths have also increased on average between 2024/25 and 2025/26.

The above statistics prove what many have already suspected – the tribunal system is increasingly under pressure and arguably isn’t fit for purpose. It remains to be seen whether the prospect of a new Prime Minister will lead to funding increases to the court system generally, bearing in mind the injustice arguably caused to claimants who sometimes have to wait years for a final outcome to their claims.
