Delay to Off-payroll working changes (IR35)

Fri 20th Mar 2020

In light of the coronavirus outbreak, the government have put on hold planned changes for IR35 and off-payroll working which were due to come into force on 6 April 2020. These changes are designed to widen the scope of these rules to include the private sector, affecting medium and large-scale businesses (at present it only affects the public sector). This may come as a relief to some but it is intended that these changes will still come into effect, although it is now expected that this will be from 6 April 2021. Therefore, much of the compliance work that companies have been undertaking in preparation for these changes can be delayed.

For those clients that we are currently working with to update terms and conditions or consultancy agreements to ensure compliance with IR35, we will be in touch so we can discuss how and when you would like us to proceed with this work. If we are not already assisting you in this regard but you think you may be affected then please do get in touch and we can discuss your requirements and appropriate timescales.
