We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking Solicitor to join our busy Property Litigation team.

The department

Based in St Albans, our property dispute team has extensive expertise in commercial landlord and tenant disputes. We can advise on lease renewals, dilapidations, service charges, tenant default, possession claims, restrictive covenants, redevelopment and telecoms.

We also offer specialist expertise in leasehold enfranchisement and lease extensions and are members of the highly regarded Association of Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners (ALEP).

Our services are often commissioned to prevent disputes arising in the first place and offer strategic advice that can minimise risk and help you to capitalise on opportunities.

Responsibilities

The successful candidates will undertake a range of contentious commercial and residential property work. Your typical workload is likely to include:

Handling a wide range of client litigation matters, with a key focus on resolving disputes relating to:

  • land and property,
  • landlord and tenant,
  • commercial land and property

Overseeing cases from the pre-action stage through to trial

Working collaboratively with colleagues and other teams to provide the best possible service to clients

Attending court hearings and trials as needed

Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates with ideally between NQ - 2- years PQE, with experience of working in a busy private practice team dealing with contentious property work. Candidates should have strong academics and have worked within well-respected law firms.

Excellent interpersonal communications skills, both verbally and written, and attention to detail are essential as are good organisational and time management skills to manage multiple clients, matters, colleagues and other related activities to a high standard.

Proven ability to work under pressure and time constraints to meet deadlines.

The candidate will be able to adhere to firm procedures including but not limited to time recording and file management.

The ideal candidate will also have a proven record of achieving targets (time recording, chargeable hours and fees) in relation to their work within private practice.

The candidate will need to be self-motivated, have a positive attitude and be able to work efficiently as part of a team and individually.

A commitment to regular business development activities and managing client relationships is also required.
