But as always when it comes to purchasing a property there are things to consider and be aware of before making your decision. Retirement properties often come with a number of excellent amenities – some of the top-class facilities in the UK have swimming pools, on-site salons and cafes, for example.

People are also drawn to this way of living as it offers support but also independence – you still own your own home in a community of like-minded people who share your interests.

However, as a result of these additional benefits of a retirement property, there are a number of issues to be aware of when looking to purchase a home in one of these developments – and a number of pitfalls to be aware of so you’re not caught out – or left out of pocket.
