What you’ll do

We are looking to recruit an Associate or Senior Solicitor to join our highly regarded Employment Team, with a particular focus on data protection, privacy and information governance matters.

This is an exciting opportunity for a solicitor with strong data protection experience to develop and grow a specialist practice within a supportive and collaborative team. The role will involve advising a broad range of business clients on data protection compliance and regulatory matters, while working closely with our Employment lawyers on the increasing overlap between employment law and data privacy issues.

The successful candidate will also work alongside colleagues across the firm, including Corporate, Commercial, Dispute Resolution and Commercial Property, providing specialist advice on data protection issues arising within their clients’ businesses.

Key responsibilities:

  • Advising clients on UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and PECR compliance, governance and risk.
  • Drafting and reviewing privacy notices, employee privacy notices, data processing agreements, data sharing agreements and related documentation.
  • Advising on workplace data protection issues, including employee monitoring, subject access requests, employee data retention and HR-related compliance matters.
  • Providing guidance on data breaches, incident response and regulatory investigations.
  • Advising on international data transfers and data protection aspects of commercial arrangements.
  • Supporting clients with data protection audits and compliance reviews.
  • Supporting employers on the data protection implications of disciplinary, grievance, recruitment and employment-related processes.
  • Delivering training to clients and internal teams on data protection and information governance.
  • Working alongside Corporate and Commercial colleagues to provide data protection input on transactions, contracts and business projects.
  • Building and developing client relationships and contributing to business development initiatives.

About you

You will be a qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with ideally 4-5 years’ post-qualification experience.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have:

  • Strong experience advising on UK data protection and privacy law and awareness of EU GDPR and global privacy developments.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating commercial and data protection documentation.
  • Strong drafting and technical legal skills.
  • Excellent client care and communication abilities.
  • A commercial and pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
  • The ability to manage their own caseload and build strong client relationships.
  • An interest in helping to develop and expand a growing data protection practice.
  • A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for contributing to the continued success of the team and wider firm.

Why join us?

  • Clear expectations and open communication – so you know where you stand.
  • Meaningful work with ambitious businesses and individuals shaping their future.
  • A culture of inclusion, belonging, and collaboration.
  • Opportunities for growth, mentoring, and development without limits.
  • Flexible working and support for a work-life balance that lasts.
