SA Law is proud to sponsor the 2016 St Albans half marathon

SA Law are setting the pace as one of the main sponsors of this year’s St Albans Half Marathon.

And the city law firm is giving the event, now in its 35th year, a kick-start by championing a newly launched Corporate Challenge.

SA Law is encouraging companies to enter teams of at least four in the half marathon or 5K run to raise as much money as they can for charity.

To increase the competitive edge, the company team with the lowest aggregate score for their combined first four runners home will win a bottle of champagne, winner’s trophy, £250 for the charity of their choice and bragging rights within the business community for the next 12 months.

Leading by example, SA Law has already signed up eight of its own staff to take up the challenge with more showing interest.

Among those to commit are Terence Ritchie, Jacqui Button, Sophie Hudson and Osman Gakou and SA Law Senior Associate Simon Walsh explained: “I’d recommend giving it a go. Setting a team or individual challenge gives you a great sense of achievement, especially when raising money for a worthy cause.”

This year’s run will take place on Sunday, June 12, with runners starting and finishing in Verulam Park. Runners will be under starter’s orders for 11am and when they finish each will receive a race T-shirt, medal, goodie bag, cooling ice lolly and hearty applause. More than 6,600 athletes took part in last year’s event and they raised in excess of £25,000 for charity – SA Law is hoping the Corporate Challenge will help blow that target out of the water.

There will be something for everyone this year with the half marathon and 5K complemented by a walking half marathon, wheelchair half marathon, and 1.5 mile children’s fun run.

Fancy dress, or company-branded running gear, is optional in all races.

Corporate Team members will get free access to the VIP area with marquee, queue-free bag drop zone, luxury toilets and changing, outdoor and indoor seating and complimentary food and drink.

They will also get a listing on the corporate page of the race website (with links to their own business website and social media channels), a name-check in the race newsletter sent to 12,000 subscribers and invitations to a pre-race networking event.

Entrance for the half marathon costs £45 while it is £30 for the 5K. You can register by visiting but Corporate Team entries will close at 11pm on Sunday, May 22.
