Changes to requesting DBS checks

Thu 1st Feb 2018

To date, applicants requesting Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificates in England, Wales, and Scotland would all make their submission to Disclosure Scotland. However, Disclosure Scotland recently announced that from 17 January 2018 they will no longer be accepting applications from England and Wales.

Instead, applicants would have to apply directly to the DBS for a basic certificate. Applicants in England and Wales can apply for a basic DBS certificate usingthis website.

Alternatively, employers can use the services of a responsible organisation to make the check on their behalf. For a full list of responsible organisations, visit here.
