Supporting Summer

We are delighted to report that SA Law is enjoying a particularly busy summer supporting many local community activities.

Here's a quick round-up of the highlights from our team so far, and an insight into how you can get involved in what is to come!

St Albans Half Marathon

We were so happy to continue to sponsor our local half marathon, which celebrated its 36th year. The SA Law-sponsored Corporate Challenge saw a high turnout of teams from a broad range of local organisations. Car dealership Gates Ford won the Corporate Challenge for the Half Marathon, with all four team members finishing in the top 50, while local intellectual property advisers Cleveland Scott York won the 5K race in under 24 minutes. Both teams received a £250 donation to their chosen charities, as well as a coveted trophy.

Dragon Boat Race for The Living Room

An outstanding SA Law team took second place in the Dragon Boat race, raising over £500 in sponsorship for The Living Room, an award-winning addiction recovery charity with treatment centres in Stevenage and St Albans. We continued our support to the charity by sponsoring a performance of “Love Song” by Abi Morgan in The Studio of the Abbey Theatre, with all proceeds going to the charity. The play had a fantastic turnout and the charity were pleased to raise close to £2000 on the night.

Beaumont School

We were particularly pleased to support local Beaumont School by sponsoring the rugby team on their first ever overseas tour to Canada. After a quick stop at Niagara Falls, the team spent their time training and playing matches against different schools. You can see the highlights of the tour on SA Law’s website here.

Push it for the Peace

We’re now planning to take part in the Push it for the Peace assault course, which raises money for The Peace Hospice, which our very own Terence Ritchie is a Trustee of. The event takes place on Saturday 23 September at Cassiobury Park, and promises to be particularly tough (and fun) this year. There are four zones: the inflatable zone, foam zone, water zone, and military zone for those braving the 10K route. Last year saw 15 SA Law volunteers take part, and we hope to do even better this year, with 12 already signed up and a lot more persuasion to come for the rest of the firm! If your business fancy getting involved and you think you can get a team together, please contact Sophie from our marketing team by clicking here and join us in raising money for a very worthy cause.

The St Albans Food & Drink Festival

We are so pleased to be sponsoring this brilliant festival again this year and are busy putting together our third recipe book (you can download volume two here) which is full of delicious recipes from our staff and friends in the community. Keep an eye on the website (here) to be kept up to date with what is going on during the festival, this one is definitely not to be missed so pop the date in your diary now!

This year, it will all kick off with the CAMRA beer festival from the 27th September until the 30th, then the renowned street festival will be on the 1st October. St Albans will then host an array of events and demonstrations throughout the district for the following week.

We thrive of being part of our busy and brilliant community and are always proud to support local causes.
