The BBC Pay Gap - is there a possibility of legal action?

Broadcaster threatened with legal action as list of 96 highest earners shows only a third are women and top seven are all men

Senior Associate in the Employment law department at SA Law comments in The Guardian on the possibility of the BBC facing legal action over the disparity in pay between male and female stars.

She said “The statistics could well lead to claims of sex discrimination by female stars. The BBC will need to show that the difference in pay is not directly on the grounds of sex, but also that – to the extent that it asserts it relates to other factors such as viewers’ demands and preferences – the differential treatment is justified.”
