How harassment escapes justice

It is lust versus the law — and lust seems to have been winning hands down until the Harvey Weinstein allegations exploded last week.

“Harassment of a sexual nature is one of the most common forms of harassment,” says Emma Gross of SA Law. “Yet, despite its prevalence in the workplace and the increasing awareness in the media, sexual harassment is not being addressed by employers.”

So if this moment of clarity is to be seized by employers — including those who predominantly hire freelancers, as in the film business — they need to be more proactive in promoting awareness of people’s rights and in meeting their own responsibilities.
