The well-attended Pancake Day race is back for 2019 and it's bigger than ever. This year, the famous St Albans Pancake Festival will take place on 5th March outside St Albans Museum on St Peter's Street. The Hertfordshire Business Independent and local charity, Home Start Herts, which helps children and families, are the primary organisers of the event and have arranged an array of activities between 12 and 4pm; from the well-known 'flipping' races, to children's 'mini flippers' races, activities and entertainment.
Suzy Moody, Strategic manager at Home Start Herts said "We are delighted to have the opportunity to develop the traditional St Albans pancake race event into something bigger to include families and children. It's a brilliant community event anhd every year so many local organisations of all sizes and industries take part to support the work of Home Start Herts. This year we are hoping to add a few new races too, so keep an eye out and get practising."

2018 winners of the St Albans Pancake Festival
PrivateFly were the winners of the traditional sprinting 'St Albans Pancake Race' beating the other 19 teams to the title.
Manpower took the crown in the 'St Albans Flippin' Walker Race', defeating the other 11 teams.

What you need to know about the Pancake Festival and Pancake Races
- The event starts at 12 noon on 5th March 2019 with the traditional St Albans Pancake Race open to businesses, organisations and charities.
- Teams can compete in EITHER the 'St Albans running Pancake Race' OR tje 'St Albans Flippin' Walkers Race'.
- Teams must book their place through the Pancake Festival website.
- The Pancake Festival will continue into the afternoon with family activities, mini flipping races and entertainers.
